Gecko - Hoplodactylus granulatusThe
Forest Gecko is also known as Long-toed Gecko. Its habitat is in the forest or
scrub such as manuka where it hides under logs, stones or the loose bark of trees
when not active. The forest Gecko can change the intensity of its colours to blend
into the background. The Forest Gecko's diet consists of insects, nectar and the fruit of
native trees. Like most New Zealand geckos the Forest Gecko is primarily nocturnal
and usually 2 and sometimes 3 young are born in autumn or early winter. |
